What is Diagnostic Ultrasound?
An Ultrasound (US) scan is a painless, radiation-free, medical examination which takes images of the body’s internal structures using high-frequency sound waves.Why Ultrasound?
The advantages of Ultrasound over other medical imaging are that it provides images in real-time, it is substantially lower in cost than other imaging modalities. It is painless, non-invasive and does not use harmful ionizing radiation.
Who benefits from Ultrasound?
Many conditions can be examined and diagnosed using Ultrasound. Images can display blood flow, motion of tissue over time, the location of blood, stiffness of tissue, or the anatomy of a three-dimensional region.
